A New Challenge...

So, after having sound intentions of not neglecting my blog again, I've spent the last two weeks being ill! The doctor said it was potentially swine flu - not convinced myself, I think it was just a bug but swine flu sounds more impressive!

Anyway, I've been doing some more digi scrapping recently, I can't show most of it yet as it's for an album for some friends of ours. I'm pretty sure they don't read this blog, but the album is of their kids so I want to check with them first before I post them. However, I do have this layout that I did last night of my gorgeous boy...

I've entered this layout in a challenge over at A Work in Progress. The first challenge for 2011 is a recipe challenge and the only other proviso is that you use a kit from any of the Scrap That Idea designers. The best bit is that you can earn money off kits by entering and leaving comments on other entries in the gallery. There's also a facebook group if you want to chat with other people taking part in the challenges. I'm looking forward to seeing what challenge is next!

Yes, I'm still here!

Though you wouldn't think it after my distinct lack of activity on here!

I've barely picked up a scrap of Basic Grey since I last posted, my crafty stuff all got tidied up for Christmas(read: pushed to one side)  and there it's stayed - until today... I actually cleared a postage stamp sized area to make a card for a friend's little boy whose birthday it is this week. I'll show that over the weekend I think.

One thing I have been doing is lots of baking - here's a selection for you:

Christmas cake

Mince Pies (with handmade pastry AND mincemeat)

and my first attempt at Whoopie Pies - Carrot Cake with Orange Mascarpone Cream Cheese Filling

I have agreed to make a cake and 80 cupcakes for a friends wedding in June - I think I may be mad but felt it was an opportunity I couldn't turn down - especially in the current economic climate - you can never have too many strings to your bow!
I'm off to visit a friend in London next weekend and we had already planned on visiting various cupcake bakeries (Hummingbird Bakery, Cox Cookies & Cake, maybe Primrose Bakery too!) - it can now be classed as research! ;o)
